WADA Statement on new test for human growth hormone

WADA has published the following statement related to the latest suspension on human growth hormone.

From WADA President John Fahey: WADA is encouraged by the recent sanctioning of two Paralympic athletes using the latest detection method for human growth hormone (hGH). The new test – which has been approved by WADA – was first introduced prior to the London 2012 Olympic Games, and we are confident that it will prove a significant tool in the fight against doping in sport. It will complement the test that has been in use since the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the major difference being that the anti-doping community now has a much longer detection window to work with. HGH has been widely abused by athletes in recent years and they should know that no longer do they have the same freedom to cheat with this particular substance.
