Norwegian Weightlifter banned two years for Meldonium

The Norwegian weightlifter Ruth Kasirye has been banned for two years after testing positive for Meldonium.

Kasirye is the first Norwegian to test positive and to be sanctioned after testing positive for Meldonium. - Ruth Kasirye is disappointed that the legal tribunal did not believe the doctor's statements in this case. It was agreed that the written material was associated with great uncertainty, and we had expected that the doctor's clarification should be sufficient proof that Ruth Kasirye received only Meldonium as an emergency medical treatment for five days. In that case, she would have been fired, said Kasjery's lawyer, Morten Justad Johnsen, at the Bull & Co Law Firm. In the Anti-Doping Database we have registered 23 athletes who has been sanctioned after using the banned substance. 22 of these athletes had their sample collected in 2016.
