Trimetazidine Reclassified in 2015


Trimetazidine has been reclassified since the beginning of 2015. It was only prohibited in-competition only until the end of 2014.

 

Trimetazidine was originally included in S6.b based upon the similarity of its chemical structure to some of the listed Stimulants. It has been moved to the newly created sub-section S4.5.c as it is pharmacologically classified as a modulator of cardiac metabolism. As of July 2019, we have registered 14 cases involving this substance in the Anti-Doping Database. Latest cases results in four year suspensions.
